In Mesopotamia people believed that they always had to please the gods in all things. They built temples to express religious beliefs called ziggurats.During this system of building temples it was the king’s duty built and to maintain it. The temple was made of mud bricks, it was eight stories high and two hundred wide. Mesopotamians believed that the gods lived in these temples. Kings and priests would stand inside to ask for god’s blessing. They also used statues for religious expression. These usually included life-like details, that showed people worshiping the gods usually their eyes glazed up. Mesopotamians made sure they showed devotion, love, and or obedience because they believed that impressed the gods. Lastly they had religious ceremonies that included music and human sacrifice.
